The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg, agreed with the legal advisor to the prime minister and the police commissioner that no enforcement operations will be conducted against ultra-Orthodox defectors on election day.
The decision was made after, following inquiries made to the Central Elections Committee, the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee for the Knesset, Justice Noam Solberg, and the committee's Acting Director General, Din Livne, contacted the Legal Advisor to the Government, Attorney Gali Baharav-Miara, and the Police Commissioner, Danny Levy.
""It was agreed, in agreement with the chairman of the Elections Committee, the Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Commissioner, and in view of the importance of the right to vote, that on Knesset Election Day, no enforcement operations will be conducted regarding the recruitment of deserters at all, and every voter will be able to go to the polls without fear.".
The Commissioner emphasized that on election day, the police will operate with reinforced forces to ensure that the elections are held as scheduled and to maintain public order, and the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee welcomed this.
