On an unmanned Arkia flight that landed from Greece, rats were discovered in a service cart carrying water bottles and cups.
This was reported today (Monday) by sources at the airline - who noted that the incident is the responsibility of T.M.M. - the aircraft food industry.
'Arkia reported the incident, stating: "It is under investigation and no passenger was in contact with the rats or damaged products.".
Markia stated: "The incident was discovered in an equipment cart that came from the TAMAM dry equipment warehouse, and not in food intended for serving to passengers. As soon as the finding was discovered, the cart was taken out of use and the issue was addressed immediately.".
""We would like to emphasize that at no point was there contact between the find and the food provided to passengers or crew members, and the food loaded onto the flight was not damaged or affected by the incident.".
Arkia also stated: "Tamam is the catering provider responsible for the preparation, storage and transportation of food, and provides catering services to all Israeli airlines as well as many foreign airlines operating at Ben Gurion Airport. It is fully responsible for the warehouses, equipment, sanitary conditions and quality control in its facilities.".
""Arkia views the incident with great seriousness, demands that the TAMAM company conduct a comprehensive and thorough examination of the circumstances of the incident, and expects to receive full explanations along with corrective steps that will ensure that an incident of this type will not occur again in the future.".
