
The National Fraud Investigation Unit at Lahav 433 (YAH) detained the head of a local authority near Jerusalem for questioning this morning (Monday) - on suspicion of involvement in public corruption.
The arrest was made after a covert investigation, which was based on information received by the unit, and this morning, the YHA moved to an open investigation, during which the suspect was detained for questioning.
The police are conducting searches in homes and at the local authority.
Additional senior officials in the Authority were summoned for questioning.
At the same time, various investigative and enforcement operations are being carried out at several sites in the council's territory starting this morning.
Additional enforcement and supervisory bodies are also participating in the investigation - including the Civil Administration, the Tax Authority, the Electricity Company, the Civil Attorney's Office, and the Land Enforcement Authority.
According to the police, the investigative activity is in its early stages, and further actions are expected to be taken.
