Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and his wife Dafna Bar-Agassi were forced to quickly evacuate the United Arab Emirates due to concerns for their safety.
According to a report this evening (Sunday) by Michael Shemesh on Channel 13, Bar participated in a special security conference in the United Arab Emirates, hosted by Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed.
The conference was attended by senior officials from the security, intelligence, and decision-making systems from various countries around the world.
However, during Bar's stay in the Emirates, an unusual security alert was received that created concerns for his safety.
Following the warning, it was decided to immediately evacuate the couple from the country, and fly them specially and urgently to Israel.
The details of the event and the evacuation were kept under a heavy veil of secrecy and have not been revealed until now.
Since his retirement from the position of head of the Shin Bet, Bar has continued to engage in various public initiatives.
Ronen Bar refused to comment on the news.
