A one-year-old toddler choked today (Sunday) on a piece of watermelon in the Ramat Yishai community - who was rescued by rescue forces who were called to the scene.
Medics and paramedics who arrived at the scene found the toddler having difficulty breathing and suffering from signs of cyanosis due to suffocation.
MDA emergency medical technician, Abed Kaabia, said: "We received a report of a toddler who choked while eating watermelon. We saw the toddler in his father's arms, having difficulty breathing with signs of cyanosis.
""We immediately realized that this was a life-threatening choking incident. We began initial medical treatment, which included patting his back, and after a few moments the piece of watermelon came out.".
""I was very excited to hear the baby's crying and realize that his condition would stabilize.".
After tests performed by the mobile intensive care team, it became clear that the toddler's condition was normal and that he did not require further treatment or evacuation to the hospital.
