The Shin Bet and the IDF revealed today (Sunday) that over the past year, dozens of attacks directed by terrorists from the 'West Bank region' of the Hamas terrorist organization - operating from Turkey - were thwarted.
According to the Shin Bet statement, Hamas's "West Bank Region" is responsible for promoting and directing attacks against civilians and security forces personnel throughout Judea and Samaria.
In recent years, and more so since the outbreak of the war, his people from Turkey have been working to recruit activists, transfer funds and weapons, and promote terrorist activity in the West Bank and in Israel.
The head of the 'West Bank Region' is currently Zaher Jaberin, while Ayman Abu Khalil serves as the head of the region's military wing. The Shin Bet noted that the two are leading the terrorist activity directed from Turkey.
As part of the investigations conducted over the past year, a number of key Hamas terrorists operating from Turkey were exposed.
Among the names revealed: Ayman Sharawna, who is involved in recruiting terrorists and promoting terrorist activity; Muhammad Malah, who assisted in transferring funds for terrorist activity; Majed Ja'aba, who, according to the Shin Bet, assisted in smuggling the weapons used in the attack at the tunnel checkpoint in November 2023; Walid Abu Nassar, who financed a terrorist infrastructure in Bethlehem; and Salam Ya'ish, who was involved in recruiting terrorists to carry out attacks.
The Shin Bet emphasized that Hamas terrorists carry out their activities from Turkish territory, meet with terrorists from Judea and Samaria, and exploit infrastructure in the country to transfer instructions and funds.
According to security officials, these funds and instructions are used to promote military activity and carry out terrorist attacks.
""The Shin Bet and the IDF view with great seriousness any connection to terrorist elements and direction from the West Bank region in Hamas, as well as involvement in transfers of funds and weapons intended for terrorist infrastructures in the Judea and Samaria region," the statement said.
