The late Rabbi Yishai Por, 52, was murdered at noon (Wednesday) in a stabbing incident at the 'Kollel Chazon Ish' on Maharashal Street in Bnei Brak, while he was sitting and studying in a community with his only son, 13.
The suspect in the act, 52 years old, of Timahoni Street, fled the scene immediately after the stabbing, and large police forces launched an extensive manhunt in an attempt to locate him.
The commander of the Dan Region, Lt. Col. Elad Klein, conducted a situation assessment with the commanders, and the investigation was assigned to the Dan Region Crime Fighting Unit.

An initial investigation revealed that the deceased and the suspect were acquainted. It should be noted that there were no previous complaints from the deceased.
As part of the hunt for the suspect, this evening, police from the Bnei Brak station, in cooperation with police from the Beit Shemesh station, located the suspect while he was in Beit Shemesh.
He was detained for questioning.
According to a report by Lee Ayish on Channel I24, the murder was preceded by a threat: In recent days, the suspect in the murder, who has a mental health background, came to the kollel, and an argument developed between him and the victim, apparently over the background of aliyah to the Torah. Even then, the suspect threatened the victim and told him:
"I'll take care of you.".
Yehezkel, a veteran abbot at the 'Chazon Ish' kollel and a friend of the abbot who was stabbed, said in an interview with Galei Tzahal: "He was loved and likable by everyone, sitting and studying with great perseverance. I can't understand where this trouble came from for us. He has nothing to do with an ant. Simply shocked and shaken.".
The late Rabbi was born on Sukkot 5734 to his parents, Rabbi Moshe and Mrs. Sarah, and lived on Maher Rashal Street in Bnei Brak. For years he lived in Jerusalem, but continued to study his Talmud at the Chazon Ish kollel, where he studied for over two decades.
The deceased left behind his wife and his only son, who was born after many years of expectation.
