The two wanted to check whether there was a willingness on the part of coalition members to support the law - if it were now brought up for a vote.
The move comes against the backdrop of the acute crisis with the ultra-Orthodox factions, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that at this stage there is no majority to pass the law.
According to a report on Channel 14, sources in the Torah Banner say that if Netanyahu does indeed bring the conscription law to the plenary for approval, it will be possible to overcome the crisis and continue the joint coalition. This is despite the harsh words uttered by Maran Lando against the prime minister and the dissolution of the right-wing bloc.
At the same time, they emphasized that there will be no cooperation with attempts to stall for time or provide a sense of progress in order to achieve other things, such as the election date. According to the same sources, Degel will also not see the vote in the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee as progress, and may not even participate in the vote since the coalition has a majority even without it in the committee.
The only progress, they said, is the vote on the second and third readings in the Knesset plenum. And nothing else.
