An unusual event occurred this evening (Monday) in the Knesset plenary: bereaved families sitting in the press gallery interrupted MK Ahmed Tibi, who was explaining in Arabic his objection to the law bringing the Nuhba terrorists who carried out the October 7 massacre to justice.
Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, MK Meir Cohen, who chaired the meeting, asked the bereaved parents, led by Itzik Buntzel, to remain quiet.
Buntzel shouted at Tibi: "What reservations do you have? This is shameful and disgraceful. Our children were murdered and it's a shame that you have reservations.".
At one point, MK Tibi responded: "Even bereaved families, whom we treat differently, must face the regulations. They are not allowed to slander me from the podium. I am also a bereaved family.".
""You're a guest here, so what if you're a bereaved father? There are other bereaved people, I also had 13 members of my family killed and I don't act like you.".
Tibi later attacked Bunzel and shouted at him: "I understand there are elections - you are a politician.".
MK Meir Cohen demanded that Tibi stop his attacks on the bereaved parents who continued to shout "murderer" at him. After a few minutes, Cohen announced a short break in the meeting to calm things down.
