In a targeted enforcement activity carried out yesterday (Monday) by the Population and Immigration Authority's Southern Region teams, a surprise inspection was conducted at a factory in the Beer Tuvia Industrial Zone.

During the activity, over 100 foreign workers were located, who were employed there in complete violation of the terms of the permit and license they were given.

The findings of the activity revealed that the workers were brought to Israel by manpower corporations licensed to operate only in the construction industry, for the purpose of employing them on construction sites.

It is suspected that an engineering company with a contracting license brought together workers from five different construction corporations and actually employed them within the industrial plant, contrary to the provisions of the law and the permit conditions, which allow for industry-specific employment only.

Following the findings that were revealed, an investigation was opened against the employing engineering company and against the management of the factory where the audit was conducted.

Five owners of personnel corporations are expected to be called for questioning in the coming days at the offices of the South Baomer Region.
