An Arab driver ran a red light, crashed into a Jewish father and son who were riding a scooter legally, and injured them moderately and seriously. While the injured Jews were waiting for medical help, and while police representatives were on the scene, the hit-and-run driver and his friends stole the property of the injured Jews - wallets, cell phones, a bag with cash, and more.
Attorney Haim Bleicher of Mehonu, representing the victims, sent an urgent appeal to the Lev Habira police station in Jerusalem, requesting that an investigation be opened. A copy of the letter was also sent to the police traffic division and the Jerusalem District Commander.
The accident occurred about three months ago, at the National Headquarters intersection on Route 1 in Jerusalem. A Jewish father and son were riding a scooter legally, when an Arab driver ran a red light and crashed into them. As a result, the father, who was driving the scooter, was seriously injured, including internal injuries, underwent surgery, and was sedated and on a ventilator for several days.
His son, who was riding with him, was also injured and suffered multiple lacerations to his body.
But while the injured Jews were waiting for medical treatment and unable to defend themselves, the offending Arab driver and other Arabs began looting their property.
In a letter sent by Attorney Bleicher to the police, it was stated: "During the minutes that passed until the arrival of the police and rescue forces, and even in the presence of the police, a number of minorities gathered at the scene, took advantage of my client's medical condition, and together with the suspect driver, committed an act of looting and theft against my client.".
One of the suspects stole the son's wallet from his pocket, while he was lying injured on the road. The father's wallet was also 'disappeared', as were the father and son's cell phones. In addition, the father and son's expensive helmets were stolen, as was a bag with cash that was in the trunk of the scooter.
In the video attached to it, the suspects are seen lifting the helmets, the phone, breaking into the scooter's trunk and stealing the bag from it. All this in front of police officers who are on the scene.
Attorney Haim Bleicher emphasized in the letter: "These are dangerous criminals with unusual audacity, without fear of the law, while manipulating the police, all at the doorstep of the Israel Police National Headquarters.".
""I would like to request that the investigation be completed, and that appropriate procedures be considered, including the arrest of the suspects, for the robbery and looting. These are criminal acts of theft and looting while taking advantage of my clients' medical condition.".
