Tragedy: A 9-year-old boy was killed when he was hit by a commercial vehicle while walking in Moshav Yad Hasmona

A 9-year-old boy, a third-grade student at the Alon School, was killed this evening (Thursday) after being hit by a vehicle in Moshav Yad Hasmona, near Kiryat Yearim.

The child was injured while walking in the moshav. Rescue forces called to the scene performed advanced and prolonged CPR in an attempt to save his life. Sadly, despite their best efforts, they were forced to declare him dead at the scene.

MDA paramedic Avraham Tsnivert and MDA medic Chaim Leib Wiener said: "We saw a 9-year-old boy lying on the side of the road, unconscious and suffering from a severe head injury.

""We provided him with medical treatment and performed prolonged CPR, but unfortunately his injuries were significant and we were forced to declare him dead.".

Dr. Nathan Unger, a volunteer doctor at United Hatzalah, and paramedic Eliezer Maklev, who arrived first at the scene: "Passersby told us that the child was hit by a commercial vehicle. We performed CPR on him at the scene and then, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead due to the nature of the severe injuries he suffered.".
