Mossad head Dedi Barnea revealed today (Tuesday), at the memorial ceremony for Mossad personnel, that a member of the Israeli intelligence organization fell while performing his duty during the ongoing campaign against Iran.

""During the Roar of Hari campaign, my thoughts and heart were filled with pride in the figure and actions of M., who fell outside of Israel while fulfilling his duty," said Mossad head Barnea.

He added: "The operations led by M. combined creativity, cunning, and technology and significantly influenced the success of the campaign against Iran.".

This is the first time that the fall of the Mossad man has been officially revealed.

Commentator Amit Segal wrote: "M. led operations that later assisted in 'Am Kalavi' and 'Roar of the Hari.' He fell several years ago.".

M. was a Mossad agent who was killed in the boating disaster on Lake Maggiore in Italy in May 2023, three years ago, during a meeting that the Italian media described as a meeting between intelligence organizations from Israel and Italy. Two other Italian intelligence officers were killed in the boating disaster.

Senior Mossad officials arrived at M.'s funeral wearing hats and masks. The ceremony was held as a military ceremony at the Ashkelon cemetery.

Also speaking at the funeral was Mossad head Dedi Barnea, who eulogized him: "I knew him as a professional of the highest level, with a pleasant demeanor, a lover of people, kind-hearted, calm and quiet. His image comes to mind with his constant smile and his dimples. He was a man of the people, he was always surrounded by old and young, foreigners and Israelis, and he knew how to speak to everyone in their language, literally, and in a calm and respectful manner.".

M., his associates said, served for about 30 years in the institution.

The Mossad's involvement in the war against Iran was reflected in foreign reports. Among other things, at the beginning of the war, the Saudi Al-Arabiya channel reported that Israel was operating on the ground in Iran using the Mossad and special forces.
