At least 40 Israeli passengers arriving on a flight from Tel Aviv to Moscow were detained for five hours at Domodedovo Airport in the Russian capital - and were forced to sign a document stating that they oppose Israel's war against Iran.
According to a report this evening (Monday), during the hours of delay they were not given access to food, water, or toilets.
According to passenger testimonies, security officers demanded that passengers turn on their phones. After they refused, they simply demanded that they turn off the devices.
The passengers were then summoned for personal interviews. During the interviews, some were told that Iran was an ally of Russia, and that “Iran’s enemy is also our enemy.” They were also told that their arrival in Moscow was “unwelcome” and that “you came for nothing.”.
According to the report in Mako, the passengers were required to sign 'warning“ documents that explained what would happen if they violated the country’s law. After signing, they were all released.
According to the testimonies, at this point the security personnel changed their approach and became “very polite and cautious.”.
The Foreign Ministry stated: "As soon as the incident became known, under the direction of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, the Foreign Ministry acted both with the Foreign Ministry in Moscow and with the Russian Embassy in Israel, and following this intervention, the incident was resolved and the entry of the Israelis was approved. It was made clear to the Russians that this conduct is completely unacceptable, and Israel views the incident very seriously.".
