The Military Prosecution filed an indictment today (Monday) against a permanent service officer with the rank of lieutenant, who served as deputy company commander, for smuggling large-scale goods from Israel to the Gaza Strip.
The officer was charged with the highest level of offenses, including aiding the enemy, taking a bribe, and smuggling goods under aggravated circumstances.
The investigation, conducted by the Military Police's Special Investigations Unit, reveals how the officer in charge of crossing security allegedly became an active partner in a smuggling network in exchange for money.
The indictment indicates that during September 2025, the officer conspired with other elements to smuggle a truck loaded with prohibited goods into the Strip.
The plan was based on the lieutenant's in-depth familiarity with the transition procedures and his powers as a commander in the field.
On the evening of September 19, 2025, the truck arrived near the Kerem Shalom crossing. The officer connected to the truck using a military jeep. He ordered the soldiers under his command to open the crossing under false pretenses, and personally escorted the truck into Gaza.
The truck contained huge quantities of mobile phones, cigarettes, tobacco, solar panels, electric bicycles, and silicone - products some of which may be used for civilian and military infrastructure in the Strip.
According to the investigation's findings, the "profit" from the operation was enormous.
Shortly after the smuggling was completed, those involved received significant sums of money from the state's corrupt groves. The officer's share of the "deal" amounted to no less than 5 million shekels in cash.
The military court ordered the officer's arrest, at this stage until April 29, 2026.
