A serious and shocking espionage case is being revealed this evening (Saturday night), in which suspicions of a network operating within the IDF for Iranian intelligence are being investigated.
According to Lee Ayish's report on the i24 channel, two soldiers in regular service in the Air Force have been detained for about a month on suspicion of having contacted hostile elements - and passing them sensitive security information during a time of war.
According to the suspicion, which was investigated by the Shin Bet and the police's central unit, Iranian officials instructed the soldiers to collect and transmit detailed information about air force bases and information about operational capabilities and classified weapons.
In addition, they were instructed to collect information on political and security figures, with one of the main targets identified being Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
At the beginning of the affair, additional soldiers were arrested, some serving in particularly sensitive units and formations.
While the two main suspects are being investigated by the Shin Bet and the police due to the seriousness of their actions, the case of the other soldiers has been transferred to the investigating military police, where they are examining the extent of their involvement and the extent of the information disclosed.
The investigation is now in its final stages, and the indictment is expected to be filed within the next week - and if there are no changes, it will include a clause of aiding the enemy in time of war.
