Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir issued an unusual joint statement this evening (Monday), amid the storm over the IDF's fire policy in southern Lebanon - and claims that restrictions apply to the forces' activities.
The announcement was made after a conversation the three had with the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Rafi Milo.
The statement said: "The IDF will continue to act with determination to thwart threats to our soldiers and citizens, to destroy terrorist infrastructure and to continue to maintain the security strip in southern Lebanon.".
The statement also stated: "The Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff made it clear that the security of Israeli citizens and IDF forces will continue to be their uncompromising priority.".
Meanwhile, another round of talks will open tomorrow between Israel and Lebanon, this time with the goal of summarizing the initial details of the withdrawal of IDF forces from southern Lebanon as part of the Lebanese Army's pilot implementation.
The talks will take place in a similar format, with American mediation and in the presence of the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon, as well as three officers with the rank of Brigadier General.
