Democratic Party Chairman Yair Golan made a secret visit to Abu Dhabi, during which he held political meetings.

Golan flew on a private plane under a veil of secrecy.

According to a report by Michael Shemesh of Channel 13, the trip was funded by the Democratic Party.

Since Golan is not a member of Knesset and does not hold an official position on behalf of the state, he did not feel the need to inform the Foreign Ministry or other official Israeli officials about the trip.

This is not the first time that Golan has met with senior officials in the United Arab Emirates. About a year and a half ago, after his return to politics and his election as chairman of the Labor Party, Golan visited the United Arab Emirates and met with the Emirati Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The Democratic chairman's office declined to comment on the details.
