As part of a joint investigation by a special investigation team established in the central unit in the Southern District of the police and the Police Investigations Department, three suspects were arrested yesterday (Monday) on suspicion of involvement in an attempted murder that occurred on May 2nd in the south of the country.
The investigation included a variety of complex investigative actions, in which evidence and findings were collected that resulted in the formation of the evidentiary infrastructure that led to the arrest of the suspects.
According to the suspicion, the first suspect - a Border Police officer in his 20s in permanent service - who has been absent from duty for about a year, along with two of his relatives, another suspect in his 20s serving in permanent service in the IDF, and the third suspect in his 40s with the rank of colonel in the reserves, all residents of the Negev, were allegedly involved in the attempted murder under investigation.
Today, the three suspects were brought to the Beersheba Magistrate's Court for a closed-door hearing. The court extended the police officer's detention by 9 days and the detention of the two other suspects by 3 days.
At this time, the names of the suspects are being withheld.
