In a discussion held today (Monday) in the small cabinet, a debate developed between the ministers about the limits of coordination with the American administration - in the face of attacks from Iran or Lebanon.
According to a report by Yaron Avraham on Channel 12, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir led a hawkish line and demanded toughness against the White House: "We need to stand our ground against Trump, fight tooth and nail. We need to tell him that we have red lines.".
Prime Minister Netanyahu scolded Ben Gvir: "Okay, I understand, there are elections in three months.".
Ben Gvir was quick to deflect the jab, noting that he was expressing his professional position. At this point, Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri intervened in the discussion: "If you thought your position would be accepted, you wouldn't have expressed it. We make decisions responsibly.".
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich presented a concept that requires a massive crushing model in Lebanon, in order to create a complete separation between the fronts: "We need to attack hard in Dahiyya. This is what will make Hezbollah beg for it to stop.".
Netanyahu summed up the political part of the discussion and explained to the ministers why he insists on maintaining normal relations with the American president and not entering into a public confrontation with him, while listing the economic and military measures that Washington is simultaneously implementing against Tehran.
