Night of arrests: Last night (Wednesday), the police handed over to the military police the young man Reuven Lemnetsach, a student at the 'Kibbutz Givat Ze'ev' yeshiva, after he was detained at the police station in Beit Shemesh.
At the same time, two additional yeshiva students were taken into custody – Yaakov Asban, 21, and Yaakov Eliasaf, 22, students of the Mishkan David yeshiva, after being detained by the Shaar Binyamin police.
The 'Black Color' team reported that the call to the emergency centers was received at a late stage, and therefore public activists did not have time to arrive at the scene in time and prevent the extradition.
Despite this, the demonstrators who arrived at the scene launched a violent protest, and the police responded with stun grenades and smoke grenades. The demonstration lasted for a long time, and even after it became clear that the detainees were no longer at the station, the protesters continued to demonstrate at the scene against the police extradition.
The young men and their families are accompanied and receive legal assistance and full support from the organization 'Giving Women'.
This is the third night in a row in which arrests of "evading" yeshiva students have been made.
At the same time, a dramatic night unfolded in Kiryat Ata: dozens of activists from the Jerusalem faction tried to break into the house of one of the commanders of Prison 10, who lives in the northern city, in protest of the arrests of deserters. The protesters arrived at 3 a.m., and only after half an hour did a police force arrive and try to repel the protesters using pepper spray. One of the protesters who was arrested was released a few minutes later for fear of further riots.
The protesters claim, "During the protest, the police used violence and even Tasers against the protesters.".
According to the protesters, "If the military police officers and enforcement officials feel a little bit of what they are doing to families and Torah students, perhaps they will receive a reflection. The wave of protests against the command staff will continue as long as the arrests of yeshiva students continue.".
The Am Kadosh organization stated: "The authorities are perfecting the methods of hunting and persecuting yeshiva students with amazing diligence. It is becoming clear to all that, according to the State of Israel, studying Torah and adhering to the Haredi Jewish lifestyle is the greatest crime. The State of Israel is becoming the only country in the world that persecutes Torah students and keepers of the faith and throws them in prison like the last of the criminals!"'
