Authorities in the United States announced over the weekend that they had filed an indictment against Muhammad Bakr Saad Daoud al-Saadi, on suspicion of involvement in planning terrorist attacks in North America and Europe, including the explosion at the entrance to the synagogue in Liège, Belgium, on May 3.

According to a report this morning (Sunday) in 'Kan News', al-Saadi, a 32-year-old Iraqi, is charged with six counts related to terrorism, after he was involved in throwing a Molotov cocktail at a synagogue and in an attempted attack on a Bank of America branch in Paris.
The charges relate to his involvement in the "planning, execution and promotion" of approximately 20 terrorist attacks in Europe and two in Canada since March 9. According to the American prosecution, al-Saadi also planned an attack on a synagogue in New York and two Jewish institutions in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Arizona.
According to the prosecution, the first attack al-Saadi was supposed to carry out was the one in Liège. Similar incidents were subsequently reported in London, Paris, Munich and Antwerp.
The targets were mainly Jewish, Israeli or American institutions, including synagogues, Jewish schools, community centers and financial institutions.
Suspects were arrested in some of the attacks, and it is estimated that al-Saadi remotely activated operatives recruited through proxy networks.
The attacks were attributed to the "Ashab al-Yamin" organization, which claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe, including the stabbing attack in London.
It now appears that the attacks are closely linked to the terrorist organization Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq.
According to the American prosecution, al-Saadi played a central role in the Hezbollah Brigades.
He was brought to federal court in Manhattan after being arrested in Turkey. His lawyer claimed he was the victim of "political prosecution.".
Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that an Iraqi citizen with close ties to the Hezbollah Brigades and the Revolutionary Guards was planning to carry out a suicide attack at a synagogue in New York.
