During a routine operation, a police officer from the Shalem station in the Jerusalem district noticed a vehicle that aroused his suspicion. A quick check revealed that the vehicle had been stolen a short time earlier from the city of Bat Yam.
The officer began pursuing the vehicle, while additional forces were called in to assist.
The car thief noticed the police officers chasing him - and began to escape by driving wildly.
During the chase, the suspect committed serious traffic violations, significantly endangered the safety of road users, and even collided with another vehicle that was in his path.
Miraculously, the incident ended without any casualties.
After a short and determined chase, the thief caused his own accident when he crashed into the dividing fence on the road - and then the police were able to arrest him.
An identity check revealed that he is a resident of Northern Samaria, 25 years old, residing in Israel illegally.
The suspect was transferred for questioning to the Shalem station in the Jerusalem district.
In the Magistrate's Court, his detention was extended until 14.5.26.
