Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in "critical but stable condition" in a Florida hospital, his spokesman told Reuters news agency on Monday morning.
Giuliani, 81, served as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001, and is remembered as one of the city's great leaders, who greatly influenced the entire United States.
During his term, he pursued a tough policy to combat crime, leading to a sharp decrease in crime rates in the city and a change in its image.
Goodman's statement said: "Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where his condition remains serious but stable. Giuliani is a warrior who has faced every challenge in his life with uncompromising strength, and he is fighting with that same strength right now. President Donald Trump, Giuliani's longtime friend, responded in a post: "Our wonderful Rudy Giuliani, a true warrior and the best mayor in the history of New York, by a huge margin, has been hospitalized and is in critical condition. What a tragedy to be treated so poorly by the radical left crazies, all Democrats - and he was right about everything! They rigged the election, made up hundreds of stories, did everything possible to destroy our nation, and now look at Rudy. So sad!""
