MK Hili Tropper spoke this morning (Sunday) with Blue and White Party Chairman Benny Gantz, and informed him of his decision to end his career in the party.
The announcement was made during a conversation between the two that took place this morning.
During the conversation, Gantz and Tropper expressed great mutual appreciation for the political partnership they had and the shared belief in the path they had taken.
The two concluded their period of joint work in good spirits.
Tropper and Gantz expressed hope that each of them will continue to work for the country and contribute to it in their own independent way going forward.
Blue and White Chairman Benny Gantz: "Hily Tropper is, first and foremost, a partner in the journey. He was the first one I brought in and helped build the party, from selecting people to the platform, he was with me at all decision-making points. After a long period of personal dilemmas, he made a painful decision. I wish Hily nothing but the best because he is a person of values and dignity, and his heart is in the right place. I thank him for the shared journey.".
""I say honestly, this is a painful day for me - but I am with a vest called the State of Israel. It protects me in my public life, it is my promise to my children and our children. The State of Israel deserves a broad Zionist unity government.
""Any government that depends on the Arab parties or Ben Gvir will be a disaster for the State of Israel and will bring civil war upon us. The era of blocs and hatred must come to an end.".
""For over 40 years I have served the country and have charged in the face of dangers in battle and in the face of every challenge that has faced me. As in battle, sometimes you have to kneel, improve your positions, deliver a fireblow and continue the assault. This morning too, my friends and I will continue the assault. We will do everything to establish a broad and stable Zionist unity government in Israel. Israel comes first."
Tropper in a farewell post: "A significant influence is no longer possible in the Blue and White party. In the coming weeks, I will meet with everyone who I think would be good to be part of the rebuilding of the country's leadership, and later I will decide on the political configuration that I think is right.".
Gadi Eisenkot was quick to respond: "Knesset member Hili Tropper is a friend and partner in the journey, one of the best people the Israeli Knesset has ever known. A man who worked at every moment to strengthen Israeli solidarity, accompany the wounded and bereaved families in the war, with the unity of Israel before his eyes. I would be very happy to see him continue in public life to bring change and hope, for a better and stronger Israel.".
Political commentator Amit Segal wrote: "The abandonment of the state camp began with Saar's resignation and new hope. Then Eisenkot. Now Tropper. Another popular figure in Blue and White who is leaving Gantz.".
