The American news website Axios revealed today (Sunday) that Israel sent an Iron Dome air defense battery to the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of the war with Iran, accompanied by the operating team.
According to the report, the move was made at an early stage of the fighting, after the Emirates were a major target for Iranian attacks.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, Iran launched approximately 550 ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as more than 2,200 unmanned aerial vehicles, at the country.
Most of the missiles and drones were intercepted, but some managed to hit military and civilian targets in the country.
Due to the scale of the attacks, the Emirates turned to its allies for assistance.
According to Israeli sources, after a conversation with the Emirati president, Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered the IDF to send an 'Iron Dome' battery with interceptors - and dozens of fighters to operate it.
According to the report, the system was able to intercept dozens of Iranian missiles.
At the same time, the Israeli Air Force carried out numerous strikes in southern Iran against short-range missiles intended to hit the Emirates and other countries in the Gulf.
Since the outbreak of the war, there has been close coordination between the countries on both the military and political levels.
According to the report, UAE officials noted that Israel was among the countries that provided real assistance, alongside the United States, which included military assistance, intelligence sharing, and diplomatic support.
A senior Emirati official added: "The assistance during this critical period will not be forgotten.".
