Maj. Gen. (res.) Lidor Porat, 31, from Ashdod, a soldier in Battalion 7106, Regional Brigade 769, fell in battle in southern Lebanon.
In the incident in which the late Porat fell, one soldier was seriously injured, four soldiers were moderately injured, and four soldiers were lightly injured.
The fighters were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital and their families were notified.
An initial IDF investigation indicates that during an operation by a force from Battalion 7106, an engineering vehicle from the force came across a Hezbollah terrorist organization explosive device in the village of Qila near Metula.
Another fighting force that was nearby, for security purposes, was hit by the explosive device.
The fighters were treated in the field and evacuated safely to continue receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Immediately after the explosion, targets in the area were attacked.
The IDF is still investigating when the explosive device was placed at the site, and whether it was a violation of the ceasefire.
It should be noted that Kafr Qila is a place that was completely destroyed in the previous round of fighting against Hezbollah at the end of 2024.
Yesterday, it was announced that Sergeant Major Barak Kalfon, 48, from the Adi settlement in the Jezreel Valley, a soldier in the 7056th Hiram Battalion of the 226th Reserve Brigade, died in the hospital after being critically wounded during an operational activity last Friday in southern Lebanon.
Kalfon is survived by his wife, two daughters, parents and two brothers. His funeral will be held today at 2:00 PM in the cemetery in the town of Adi.
