A personal and moving closing of the circle was recorded today (Thursday) for the hasbara activist Yosef Haddad, when during his visit to Binyamin he was exposed to recent documentation from Lebanon - including the demolition of the building in Bint Jabal where his commander, Roy Klein, fell, alongside photos from the area where he fought and was himself injured 20 years ago.
The fighting in Lebanon continues these days, and the IDF continues to operate deep in the territory against Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure. As part of the operation, operations are also being carried out that combine the present with the past - including the destruction of targets from the same battlefield from the Second Lebanon War.
Haddad, who was seriously injured during the fighting in Bint Jabal, visited the Binyamin Regional Council today (Wednesday), toured Mount Hazor and ancient Shiloh, and concluded his visit at Sarah Klein's house in the settlement of Ali.
Also participating in the meeting was Tsofia Dickstein, the mother of Ivri Dickstein, who fell in the current war.
During the moving visit, Haddad was shown videos of the activities in Lebanon by local resident Tamar Asraf. Watching the documentation brought him back to the moments of the battle.
""I won't forget that," he said. "Do you have any idea what's happening in my heart right now in terms of pride? I look at our fighters - what pride. They're closing an open account.".
He also described a moment that was etched in his memory from the fighting: when the commander of the 51st Battalion at the time, Yaniv Asor, got on the phone and told the fighters: "I love you, this is the time to strike, return with heavy fire and do the job." According to Haddad, "he stepped down from command to human speech - I am with you.".
At one point, Haddad said excitedly, "You don't understand what you did to me," as he struggled to hold back his tears.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Second Lebanon War, in which Klein fell after jumping on a grenade while shouting "Shema Israel" to save his soldiers. Haddad was seriously injured in the war.
