On July 10, as part of a traffic police operation on Route 73, near the Kfar Baruch intersection, a vehicle was stopped for inspection - after the police noticed that it was driving on the road with a broken headlight.
After stopping the vehicle and checking the driver, a 30-year-old from Nazareth, one of the officers smelled a drug odor coming from the driver's seat. A search of the driver's door revealed a substance suspected of being a drug.
Meanwhile, while the police were checking the identities of the driver and the passenger sitting next to him, the passenger identified himself as an Israeli resident and gave his name.
After the police suspected that he was a resident of Judea and Samaria, they asked him for his full details - and after he initially insisted on his Israeli identity, the passenger admitted that he was a 35-year-old resident of Gaza - who was in Israel without permits.
At the end of the investigation into the case, the Nazareth Prosecution Unit filed an indictment against the Shin Bet. The driver is also expected to stand trial later for transporting the illegal resident.
