The prime minister said in an interview: "The regime in Iran needs to fall, or the people there will realize that they cannot continue to shoot at their neighbors in the Gulf like this, and that's even more so when they don't have nuclear weapons. They need to fall or be significantly weakened, that's what US President Donald Trump is trying to achieve with the agreement, and that's good, but either way they won't have nuclear weapons.".
He added: "If Iran attacks Israel indirectly or directly, it will be mistaken because Israel's response will be very powerful.".
In the shadow of the president's decision to freeze the expansion of the fighting, those in the Gulf today are not hiding their confusion over Trump's conduct and their fear of what will happen next.
A Saudi source close to the government in Riyadh sharply criticized President Trump's policy in a conversation with Channel 12: "It's very frustrating to understand how he conducts himself. No one understands his working method, he's confusing, and no one trusts him. Everyone is disappointed with his conduct.".
