Starting today (Sunday), election propaganda created or edited using artificial intelligence will be required to be marked with a special symbol.
This is stated in a new law initiated by the Central Elections Committee for the Knesset and which entered into force today.
According to the law, any election propaganda publication that includes visual or audio content created, in whole or in part, by digital means, including artificial intelligence, or edited by such means in a way that substantially alters it, will be required to include a clear and prominent disclosure notice.
According to the rules set forth in the law, established by the Chairman of the Central Knesset Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, the disclosure notice may be given in writing, in a designated graphic marking, or verbally, in a prominent location with high contrast, in a legible and clear font and in the language of the content.

In printed content or images, the mark must be at least 5% in size from the height of the content. In videos, the mark must appear throughout its entire duration, and in audio content, at the beginning and end.
Failure to comply with the labeling requirements may be considered a violation of the law, and the responsibility for this lies with the advertiser.
The rules apply to any content published for the first time starting today, in addition to the disclosure obligations that currently exist in law.
The rules constitute an innovative and important step in dealing with the challenges of artificial intelligence during the election period and are designed to maintain public trust in the electoral process even in the age of artificial intelligence.
