This evening (Saturday) a report was received at the ZAKA hotline about a man who was found lifeless in his apartment on Arlozorov Street in Haifa.
Northern District ZAKA volunteers were called to the scene and treated the deceased with dignity, working to collect all the findings at the scene.
Israel Lazar, a volunteer from ZAKA Northern District, who attended the scene, said: "This is a man who lived alone. Neighbors who smelled a bad odor called the emergency services, who broke down the door and discovered the deceased in an advanced state of decomposition, after apparently having died several days ago. ZAKA Northern District volunteers worked at the scene with respect for the deceased and collected all the findings, in order to bring him to a dignified burial.""
Rabbi Anshel Friedman, Commander of the Northern District ZAKA: "Unfortunately, recently we have been noticing a worrying increase in the number of cases of decay in the northern region. Again and again we encounter people who die in their homes and are only discovered days later. This is a painful reality that requires us all to be vigilant and maintain contact with family members, neighbors and people who live alone.""
