Monday of this week was the hottest day of the past year: In the south of the Dead Sea, along the Arava and up to Eilat, temperatures were recorded well above 40 degrees, with the Meteorological Service's Sodom station measuring a temperature of 44.7 degrees this afternoon.
This is the highest temperature measured in Israel since the heat wave of August 15th last year.
