A rare and moving moment on the last night of the 25th Knesset: Knesset members from all factions in the House stood up and bid farewell to MK Yaakov Margi of Shas with applause and cheers - after 24 years in which he served as Minister of Religious Affairs and Welfare, Chairman of the Education and Economy Committees, and Deputy Speaker of the Knesset.
MK Yinon Azulai said: "My father was privileged to be here with Yaakov, who left for a good life, for decades. When he was sick and I was elected, he told me: 'Yinon, if you need to consult with someone, go to Yaakov. Yaakov knows what I would want, we would be friends as brothers.' And Yaakov fulfilled my father's will for me.".
