After four years and nine budgets: The Knesset plenum approved early Friday morning, in second and third readings, with a majority of 62 supporters and no opponents, the party financing bill, which includes the section ordering the dissolution of the 25th Knesset.
Following the approval of the law, the election recess officially began.
This is the first time since 1988 that the Knesset has completed its term.
The elections will be held in 102 days, on October 27.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana signed off the first Knesset since the 1980s that is fulfilling its days: "The time is now 5:18 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2026. The next session will be held about two weeks after the elections. This session, this session, the 25th Knesset, N-E-V-L-E."
This was after nerve-wracking hours and several MKs who were absent and did not answer their phones. The coalition finally jumped the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense in the struggle to muster the necessary majority. MKs Distel and Maoz were also called in in the dead of night - and the Knesset finally approved the dispersal clause.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has thus broken another record: he is the first prime minister to complete a full term since 1988.
Netanyahu left the Mishkan smiling and relaxed, and in response to a question from Channel 14's Motti Castel, he replied and sent a message: "This is just the beginning.".
