After the threat by Degel Hatorah chairman, MK Moshe Gafni, to vote against the law dividing the powers of the Legal Advisor to the Government: the government approved a special decision this evening (Wednesday) that is important news for thousands of Haredi kindergarten teachers and kindergarten chains.
The decision includes recognizing kindergarten teachers' seniority for budgeting purposes - a significant step that will help kindergarten chains cope with the budgetary hardship, and will lay the foundation for the first time to correct the long-standing distortion in the budgeting of their salaries.
For this purpose, the government approved an additional 39 million NIS in a way that will determine their salary based on 16 years of seniority.
MK Gafni: "This is another step in a process aimed at equalizing the salary conditions of ultra-Orthodox kindergarten teachers with their colleagues in general education. I will continue to work until full equality is achieved, and I will not relent until this goal is achieved.""
