Because of the compliments of the Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef to Gadi Eisenkot: Yisrael Beytenu Chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, today (Monday) at his faction meeting in the Knesset, addressed the chairman of the Yeshar Party, Gadi Eisenkot - and set red lines for him.
Lieberman declared: "Anyone who builds on a coalition with Shas will not build on a coalition with Yisrael Beiteinu." He added: "If we don't overcome the evasion - the evasion will overcome us.".
Later, Liberman spoke in the Knesset plenary, and sent an implicit jab at Eisenkot: "Ben-Gurion understood the mistake that some of my opposition friends do not understand," Liberman said, "Rabbi Ovadia's Shas is not Aryeh Deri's Shas.".
Democrats Chairman Yair Golan announced that he is joining Lieberman's 'red lines.' "I heard my friend Lieberman set a red line and I equalize and exceed," Golan wrote on his X network account. "None of the parties in the October 7 coalition will be partners in the government we form.".
Yesterday, Mordechai Halperin reported on Galei Tzahal that Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef favors Gadi Eisenkot as a candidate for prime minister.
Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef said, in a conversation attended by Halperin, that Shas may support Eisenkot in the upcoming elections, and added that he hopes that United Torah Judaism will also join the move. He also noted that he intends to express public support for the move as the date for going to the polls approaches.
Rabbi Yosef said: "Gadi Eisenkot is a good man, a warm Jew, he loves those who study Torah - his grandmother voted for Shas and wanted him to be a rabbi. It didn't happen, but you can trust him.".
The 'council' member added: "We may go with him in the upcoming elections, we may support him to be the next prime minister.".
