National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Boaz Bismuth, wrote a letter today (Tuesday) to Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, following publications about the IDF's 'ethical work plan' regarding the keeping of Nuhba terrorists in military detention facilities.

The two are calling on the Chief of Staff to immediately renounce the plan, which they say deviates from the IDF's central mission in wartime.

In their letter, Ben Gvir and Bismuth note that the work plan includes training for commanders on the subject of 'values,' developing a curriculum on the subject of value-based events, signage in facilities that will include the spirit of the IDF, and even distributing a 'guideline sheet' to commanders of correctional facilities.

According to them, instead of engaging in 'implanting values' towards the Nuhba terrorists, the IDF should focus on defeating the enemy and winning the war.

The two mention that IDF fighters are the central value that must be protected, and criticize the very formulation of the plan after, according to them, the 'Yemen Field Plot' and the 'campaign of lies against Force 100' have already caused serious damage to the status of the fighters.

Ben Gvir and Bismuth wrote: “The value that guides the IDF should be the defeat of the enemy and victory in the war, not the preoccupation with "implanting values’ into the Nuhba terrorists. This plan is a spit in the face of IDF fighters and fuel for the false campaign against Force 100 led by the persecutor of fighters, the former IDF commander.".

They added: "Guarding the Nuhba terrorists - who murdered, raped and slaughtered men, women and children - until they are brought to the gallows should include maximum security and minimum conditions. Not progressive ethics and slogans that weaken the spirit of the IDF and its fighters.".

""We expect to hear from you that the IDF completely renounces this work plan. If an alternative work plan is needed in relation to terrorists in the IDF facility, the IPS will be happy to assist and save the appropriate model in relation to the abhorrent terrorists.".
