According to a report by Shahar Ilan in Calcalist, Bahar-Miara also reported that Transportation Minister Miri Regev is delaying the cancellation of public transportation discounts for "evaders," and that the government has refrained from transferring property tax authorities to the Prime Minister, so that he can cancel the property tax discounts.
According to the Ombudsman's update, in the 2024 and 2025 recruitment years - the 2025 recruitment year ends today - 80,000 report orders were issued to Haredi candidates for service. Of these, 8,000 reported and 2,900 were enlisted.
It also reported that the number of evaders, or those in the process of being declared evaders (Order 12), is 92,000 - about 801,000 of whom are Haredi.
The Advocate General noted that "the remaining candidates for service who were declared as draft evaders, who are not from among the Haredi public, are the scope of draft evaders that has accumulated over the decades of the state's existence. In other words, the phenomenon of draft evasion among the general public is an extremely limited phenomenon.".
According to the report in Calcalist, from the beginning of 2026 until June 14, 294 indictments were filed against draft evaders who were declared draft evaders by military courts.
According to the military prosecution, 32 of them are members of the ultra-Orthodox community, that is, 11%. The reason is that most of the ultra-Orthodox draft evaders have not yet reached the year and a half period of evasion, after which they stand trial for a criminal offense.
From August 1, 2025 to May 10, 2026, 1,136 evasive defendants were tried in disciplinary proceedings, of which 424, who are 37%, were members of the Haredi public.
