As part of an investigation being conducted by the Jerusalem Border Police, and following intelligence information, the fighters were jumped into a deep cistern in the village of Al-Jib in the Binyamin Brigade - at the bottom of which, according to suspicion, a cache of weapons had been removed.
Upon arrival at the scene, the fighters conducted initial scans in an attempt to reach the bottom of the pit and even dived inside, but due to its great depth and the complex terrain conditions, they were unable to reach the bottom.
As a result, fire and rescue forces were called to Israel along with a professional diver, who joined in a complex operation that lasted several nights, during which large amounts of water were pumped out of the pit and dives were carried out to the depths of the bottom.
Tonight (Friday night), at the conclusion of the joint operation, several sealed bags containing a significant cache of weapons were located and removed from the pit:
All of the seized weapons were transferred for further investigation.
The explosives and charges found at the scene were destroyed by sappers who were called to the scene.

An initial examination indicates that this is, according to suspicion, a stockpile of weapons intended for use in hostile terrorist activity.
The activity apparently prevented a serious security incident, and constitutes a significant operational achievement in the ongoing effort to protect the capital, Jerusalem, and thwart security threats before they materialize.
