Two days ago, police officers from the Beit Shemesh police station arrested 11 illegal residents who were located inside a construction site on Nahar Jordan Street in the city, hiding behind a drywall that was erected specifically to conceal them.
The suspects were detained and taken to the police station for questioning, and were later deported from the country.
Following the incident, the Deputy Commander of the Jerusalem District, Lieutenant Colonel Ronen Ovadia, signed an administrative order to restrict use of the site - ordering the closure of the construction site for 30 days, due to the employment of illegal residents on site, who pose a security risk.
Deputy Chief Eldad Peretz, Commander of the Beit Shemesh Police Station: "We cannot accept the current situation in which employers and tenants choose to put financial gain above public safety. Detaining illegal residents is not 'cost-saving' but a dangerous security negligence that poses a real risk to all citizens of the country. The Beit Shemesh Police Station will continue to act decisively, with all the means at our disposal, to reach anyone who violates the law and endangers public safety for personal gain.".
