Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter has decided not to join any of the existing players, and if he runs in the upcoming elections, he will establish his own party.
According to a report this evening (Tuesday) by Moti Castel on Channel 14, Winter claims that he is the only one who can bring a large number of voters from the center-left to the right.
In recordings from a house party he held the day before yesterday - which were broadcast on the channel - he is heard harshly attacking Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar party, claiming, among other things, that Eisenkot was the one who prevented his promotion in the IDF.
Winter: "Gadi Eisenkot did everything he could so that I could finish my service in the IDF. I'm telling you this because you have to understand for a moment, I hear now that Gadi will bring victory and Gadi will bring everything - but that's the concept. That's the concept, that's the perception. That's the 'sederah', the 'inclusion', we'll give them a little more money and they'll be Zionists.
""Look, I said, wait, who... Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are. Who are the friends? Gadi Eisenkot's deputy as Chief of Staff is Yair Golan. Number three in the army, head of the AMATZ (Operations Division), is the famous Aharon Haliva. Number four, head of the AMAN and later became the Southern Command Major General, is Herzi Halevi. So tell me who surrounds you, who your friends are, I'll tell you what your perception is.
""That's the story. So no one will dress up and tell me they're suddenly going to be different, the concept is there.".
Winter also addressed the draft law: "I tell you, if they stood up and said, 'Not all of us are Torah students, not everyone who wears black and white is really...'"
""I'm in favor of the Torah world, I'm in favor of preserving the Torah, true. We probably don't need everyone, okay? With all due respect, sorry. The Torah world is important, the Torah sustains the Jewish people, sustains the entire world. Not everyone should be, after all, not everyone is going to be a warrior, right? So what's the problem? The problem is that we say, 'No, we're all Torah students,' and that's a lie.
""And with this lie they are harming the Torah world, because now there is a serious injustice here for the entire Haredi community, and Torah students will be harmed... they will be harmed first. This is my opinion. And I think it is possible and it needs to change, and it must change.".
