The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Tnufa Directorate for the North will invest 13 million NIS in the coming year to grow agricultural tourism in the Tnufa region, as a direct implementation of the Agriculture Chapter - a plan worth approximately 1 billion NIS by 2029, to strengthen agriculture, environmental quality, and agricultural infrastructure in the region.
The current investment is part of a broad strategy led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to strengthen northern agriculture and strengthen it as a central economic and social engine in the region.
For farmers in the Tnufa region, this is real news. In an area where agriculture is still a central means of production in local life, the procedure makes it possible to establish, expand, and upgrade agricultural tourism and complementary projects - self-picking, tours of an active farm, workshops, visitor centers, and display and sales areas - and establish a complementary and stable source of income alongside existing agricultural activity.
The assistance, intended for farmers, entrepreneurs, companies and local authorities within a range of up to 9 km from the Lebanese border, will be provided in two tracks: up to 300,000 NIS for the establishment and expansion of a project, and up to 2 million NIS for the development of a significant spatial tourist anchor, with the potential to become a regional and even international destination.
Behind the move is a shared concept between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the director of Tnufa: strong agriculture is an anchor for the economic and social resilience of localities, and a locality that makes a good living is a locality that families choose to stay in. Based on this, efforts are being made to diversify the farmers' sources of income with complementary activities, primarily agricultural and rural tourism, which will connect productive agriculture with new audiences and reveal the beauty of the rural space.
This is another step in a national investment package of over NIS 13.3 billion that has been directed to the Tnufa region since December 2024.
The communities on the front line are on the front lines, and have suffered prolonged damage to their economic, agricultural and tourist activities, along with a sharp decline in income and the number of visitors. The new procedure is intended to strengthen the tourist and agricultural infrastructure again, and to create a tourist continuum that will highlight the Tnufa region as an attractive space that combines agriculture, landscape and community.
