Three residents of the village of Isawiya in East Jerusalem - ages 18, 19, and 16 - were arrested on suspicion of involvement in setting fire to a forest near the Ofrit base in the Jerusalem area.
According to the police statement, last Friday, a report was received at the 100 hotline about a brush fire that broke out near the military base.
Following the report, police officers from the Shalem Station and soldiers from the Border Guard's Wall Battalion were called to the scene.
During the investigation of the incident, and with the assistance of observers from the Jerusalem View District Control Center, the three suspects suspected of being involved in setting the fire at the scene were located.
The suspects were arrested by the forces and transferred for further investigation to the Shalem police station.
Yesterday, the three suspects were brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a hearing. The court granted the police request and extended the suspects' detention until Wednesday, in order to continue the investigation.
