At the initiative of Transportation Minister Miri Regev, another significant step is being taken in upgrading Ben Gurion Airport and bringing it into line with the standards accepted at the world's most advanced airports: The National Licensing Authority in the Planning Administration has approved the application for a building permit to construct a new hotel adjacent to Terminal 3.
The new hotel is expected to significantly upgrade the passenger experience, expand the range of services at the airport, and provide a convenient and available solution for passengers before flights, after landing, and in cases of extended stays between flights.
The hotel will also serve air crews and guests arriving in Israel, and will strengthen Ben Gurion Airport's status as the main gateway to the country.
The project, promoted by the Ministry of Transportation and the Airports Authority as part of the Ben Gurion Airport development plan, will include eight floors and construction areas totaling approximately 31,500 square meters.
The hotel will be built on the east side of Terminal 3, above the Baggage Checking System (HBS) building. Work on the hotel is expected to begin in 2028, after the building is completed.
The unique design of the project allows for efficient utilization of the land and optimal integration into the existing space at the airport.
Most of the baggage screening system structure was designed to be underground, with only one floor above ground level, and the hotel will be built above it. The design is intended to minimize the landscape impact and ensure full compliance with the operational and safety needs of Ben Gurion Airport.
The approval of the application by the National Licensing Authority was received after a professional review of the plan, as part of a broad concept of developing advanced aviation infrastructure, integrating quality passenger services and optimal utilization of the land. The permit is subject to compliance with design control conditions, including fire safety permits, protection from the Home Front Command, green building requirements, permits from the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Defense, as well as conditions relating to infrastructure and environmental protection.
The construction of the hotel will be carried out in accordance with the national outline plan for Ben Gurion Airport and the approved construction plan, which was approved at the end of 2024.
The start of work is conditional on coordination with all infrastructure entities and the presentation of agreements for the treatment of waste and excess dirt, in accordance with the established environmental requirements.
Minister of Transportation: "Ben Tel Aviv Airport is Israel's main gateway and the first window that meets everyone who comes to the country. The new hotel is part of the development momentum we are promoting at the airport, with the aim of expanding passenger services, upgrading the stay experience, and placing Ben Tel Aviv Airport on a par with the most advanced airports in the world.""
Ministry of Transportation Director General Moshe Ben Zaken: "The construction of the new hotel is another pillar in Ben Gurion Airport's development plan and in preparation for expanding air activity in the coming years. The project will provide passengers with advanced and accessible service, while ensuring efficient planning, safety, and operation at the highest level.""
