Mossad head Roman Gofman announced today (Thursday) his decision to appoint A. to the position of deputy head of the Mossad and head of the organization's next operations directorate.
The appointment was approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and A. is expected to take up his position immediately.
The institution noted that A. served over the years in a variety of roles at the core of the organization's operational activities and gained extensive experience in its operational activities.
It was also reported that A. brings with him professional knowledge, experience, and in-depth familiarity with the work of the Mossad and the operational challenges it faces.
Last week, upon taking office, Goffman decided to dismiss the deputy head of the Mossad, who had been appointed only a few months earlier and was one of the candidates for head of the Mossad.
The statement said at the time: "The head of the Mossad wished to express his deep appreciation to A. for his 22 years of operational service in the Mossad and his significant contribution to the security of the State of Israel.".
During his service, A. worked at the forefront of the organization's operational activities in three operational wings, commanded two of them and led a series of groundbreaking operations. He was awarded five Israel Defense Awards for his achievements.
