
IDF forces today (Tuesday) eliminated a terrorist who crossed from Lebanon in the Ramim Ridge area into Israeli territory and fired at an IDF force.
The terrorist, who was armed with a rifle and a knife, was identified inside Israeli territory, a short distance from the fence.
This is an unusual event, which led to the activation of the "Night Knight B" procedure - a procedure for preparing for terrorist infiltration.
During the incident, the terrorist fired a gun at an IDF force. The force returned fire and killed him.
A security source confirmed to media person Yinon Magal that the terrorist managed to penetrate Israeli territory - and fired at our forces inside Israeli territory.
Following the identification, residents of the area were instructed to stay in their homes. At the same time, emergency response teams in the area's communities were briefed.
The IDF began searches to rule out the presence of additional suspects and to ensure that there is no additional threat to nearby communities.
Air Force aircraft were also scrambled to the area.
Following the security incident, residents of Misgav Am, Margaliot and Manara were instructed by the HaVashtz to stay home and not roam the communities.
The road connecting Yiftach and Manara - Highway 886 on the Ramim ridge - was blocked to vehicle traffic.
The IDF said: "The incident is still ongoing. IDF forces are continuing to search, in addition to Air Force aircraft that were deployed to the area. The IDF is in constant contact with local authorities.".
