Sergeant Michael Tyukin, 21, from Ashkelon, a fighter in the Givati Patrol, was killed by an explosive drone strike in southern Lebanon.
In the incident in which Michael fell, four other fighters were slightly injured.
The incident occurred last night at around 10:30 PM. A Hezbollah explosive drone struck a Givati patrol force operating in the area of the village of Zutar a-Sharqiya north of the Litani and on the Nabatia Plateau ridge west of Yochamor and the Beaufort Fortress.
An explosive drone launched by the terrorist organization Hezbollah hit a point where Sayeret Givati forces were operating. The strike killed Tyukin Y.D. and injured the fighters who were evacuated for medical treatment.
Tyukin was an only child. He immigrated to Israel from Ukraine with his mother in 2020.
Ashkelon Mayor Tomer Glam paid tribute: "The heart is broken and the entire city of Ashkelon is mourning and in pain over the fall of Sergeant Michael Tyukin, a resident of the city, a fighter in the Givati Patrol who fell in the battle for the defense of the homeland in southern Lebanon.".
Glam noted that Michael was his mother's only son, and added that the Ashkelon Municipality will accompany the family and provide them with all the necessary assistance. "Our sincere condolences from the bottom of our hearts. May Michael's memory be blessed," he said.
The number of casualties since the ceasefire in Lebanon came into effect has risen to 13. Nine of them were killed as a result of Hezbollah's use of explosive drones - eight soldiers and a civilian.
Defense Minister Israel Katz: "I share in the deep sorrow of the Tyukin family over the fall of Sergeant Michael Tyukin, a fighter in the Givati Patrol, who fell in battle in southern Lebanon.
The late Michael immigrated to Israel from Ukraine with his mother just six years ago, chose to tie his fate to the fate of the State of Israel, enlisted in significant combat service and became a symbol of Zionism, dedication and love of the land.
I send my deepest condolences to his mother, family, and friends, and pray for the full recovery of the four soldiers injured in the incident.
