The Jerusalem District Court today (Wednesday) sentenced Fadi Shweiki to 50 months in prison, along with associated sentences, who was convicted of weapons offenses after he, along with an accomplice, sold the gun used by terrorist Udai Tamimi in carrying out a shooting attack at the Shuafat checkpoint in 2022.
In the attack, soldier Noa Lazar was murdered and additional security guards were injured.
With the same weapon, the terrorist attempted to carry out another attack, two weeks later, at the entrance to Ma'ale Adumim - where he was eliminated.
In its ruling, the court fully adopted the evidentiary basis presented by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office. The judges convicted Schwicki of a series of offenses: possession of weapons and weapon accessories, purchase of weapons, and weapons trafficking.
The ruling shows that Schwycki was not an "accidental intermediary", but a full and conscious partner - starting from the stage of purchasing the gun, through its financial financing, its possession, and its final sale to the terrorist.
As part of the arguments for the sentence, the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office claimed that weapons offenses have become a scourge of the state - and that illegal weapons easily pass from hand to hand and are used for violent incidents, nationalistic crimes, and life-threatening terrorist acts.
The prosecution further emphasized that in this case the serious risk was actually realized in a fatal manner, and requested that the defendant be sentenced to five and a half years in prison, probation, and a fine.
The court sentenced Shweki to 50 months in prison, along with additional sentences. The case was handled by attorney Alona Drori Orad.
