The United States military's ammunition shortage led to a confrontation between President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hasegawa during a cabinet meeting held last weekend at Camp David.
According to a report last night (Thursday) in the Washington Post, Trump was furious because he thought the ammunition problem had already been solved, while Geseth blamed his deputy for the shortage - and for the president not receiving a full update.
The report, quoted in 'Kan News', claims that the US has already used more than 1,300 tactical ballistic missiles in the first weeks of fighting Iran.
According to the report, the stockpile of ATACMS missiles, short-range missiles that Ukraine also seeks to use, has been significantly depleted, so that there are almost no such missiles left.
Trump referred to the US military's weapons stockpile, writing on his social media: "The US has vast quantities of ammunition, especially of certain types. In addition, large quantities are manufactured and shipped to the US as needed. Defense companies are building the largest number of factories and manufacturing facilities in the history of our country. The 'leakers' of those treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long prison sentences will be required!""
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt denied the publication, saying: "This is 100% "fake news." Trump has full confidence in the slanderer.
